The murder of Nigar Bilgin, who disappeared 30 years ago in Artvin, was solved

Minister of Internal Affairs Mustafa Çiftçi announced on his social media account that the murder, which had been hidden for years, was brought to light. According to the information shared by Minister Çiftçi, a local investigation was launched by gendarmerie teams in Şavşat district after Nigar Bilgin did not apply for a new identity card.

In the investigation, it was determined that Bilgin had not been heard from for nearly 30 years, that there was no official missing person complaint against him, and that no digital footprint was found.

District Gendarmerie Command and Gendarmerie Crime Investigation Team (JASAT) teams interviewed Bilgin's legally married wife, Z.B. He received information that he was subjected to violence by Deepening the investigation, the teams determined that Z.B. had been living alone in a cave in the forest outside the village for about 20 years. Following the statements of the suspect's brothers, the gendarmerie teams took action and caught Z.B. in an operation. During the procession carried out with the participation of the Public Prosecutor on duty, bones and pieces of clothing believed to belong to Nigar Bilgin were found.
