GEN İlaç ve Sağlık Ürünleri AŞ Chairman of the Board of Directors, Abidin Gulmuş, stated in his statement to the AA correspondent that it was a pride for them that the factory was opened by President Aliyev, and that they aimed to develop the pharmaceutical industry, which is still at its infancy in Azerbaijan.
Gulmuş noted that the facility was established to ensure the local production of vital medicines and stated that 66 percent of the shares of the factory belong to GEN İlaç and 29 percent to the Business Development Fund of the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan.
Stating that the construction of the factory equipped with the latest technology was completed in less than 2 years, Gulmuş said, "Here, we will first start producing vitally important medicines that the Azerbaijani healthcare system needs. The first goal is to produce 50 medicines in 2027." he said.
Gulmus emphasized that the factory is extremely important for both the development of the Azerbaijani pharmaceutical industry and the Azerbaijan-Turkey economic cooperation, and said, "We are the only factory in Azerbaijan that can produce from raw materials to the final product, and that is why we are ranked number 1.
