Chiben Wakayama won the competition with some tricks. Immediately after allowing a comeback, in the bottom of the 8th inning, with one out and runners on second and third base, No. 7 Kazusho Kawahara made a squeeze to tie the score. He still scored the winning run with one out and a wild pitch from first and third base. There were 16 cases of suspected heat stroke during the tournament.
