Earlier, answering a question from RIA Novosti, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that Moscow does not rule out resuming negotiations in the Russia–US–Ukraine format, but it is premature to discuss the venue and timing of such talks.

"The (trilateral) meeting could take place in the Emirates, Switzerland, Turkey, or other countries. We have invitations from various countries," Zelenskyy said in an audio recording published in the Telegram channel of the news outlet "Novosti.LIVE."

According to him, the meeting plans to discuss energy issues and grain exports. At the same time, Zelenskyy identified the humanitarian track, primarily prisoner exchanges, as the main priority.

On September 5, a meeting took place at the Kremlin between Russian President Vladimir Putin and special envoy of the US leader Steve Witkoff and son-in-law of the US President Jared Kushner; it lasted about three hours.
