غير أنّ السلطات أعلنت أنّ سبب الوفاة لم يحدد بعد، بينما نفت الهيئة الروسية للرقابة على حماية المستهلك والصحة «روسبوتريبنادزور»، ما أفادت به وثيقة تمّ تداولها على الإنترنت بأنّه تم اتخاذ تدابير صحية خاصة بالأمر.

وقالت في منشور على تطبيق «تلغرام»: «نود أن نوضح أنّ الوثيقة والمعلومات المذكورة لم تصدر عن مصادر رسمية وهي غير صحيحة».

وأضافت: «حتى الساعة، لم يتم اتخاذ قرار من هذا النوع»، مشيرة إلى أنّ «الوضع الصحي مستقر» في منطقة إيركوتسك.

وكان موقع «بيبول أوف بايكال» الإخباري قد أفاد، الجمعة، نقلاً عن مصادر لم يسمها قال إنها مقرّبة من الأجهزة الأمنية في المنطقة، بأنّ شيبيلوفا ربما أصيبت بالطاعون الرئوي بسبب كسر أنبوب اختبار.

وأفادت وسائل إعلام أخرى بوجود صلة محتملة بين وفاتها وحادث في المختبر في المنشأة.

وقال حاكم منطقة إيركوتسك إيغور كوبزيف، الاثنين، إن لجنة خاصة من الخبراء أجرت تحقيقاً في المنطقة، وخلصت إلى أن «سبب الوفاة هو التهاب رئوي مجهول السبب».

وأضاف في منشور على «تلغرام» أن الهيئة الروسية للرقابة على حماية المستهلك والصحة، خلصت بعد إجراء فحوص إلى أنه «لم يُعثر في العيّنات البيولوجية للشابة على أي كائنات دقيقة مرتبطة بعملها المهني».

وأشار إلى أنه لم تُسجل منذ وفاة الشابة «أي حالات جديدة لموظفين في معهد مكافحة الطاعون طلبوا رعاية طبية».

والطاعون مرض بكتيري يمكن أن يظهر بأشكال عدة، بينها الطاعون الرئوي، وهو الشكل الأكثر عدوى. ويمكن أن يكون الطاعون الرئوي قاتلاً إذا لم يُعالج مبكراً، وفق منظمة الصحة العالمية.

من جانبها، أعلنت منظمة الصحة العالمية، الثلاثاء، أنّ الخطر «منخفض» بالنسبة إلى روسيا و«منخفض جداً» بالنسبة إلى أوروبا، بعد «التقييم الأولي للمخاطر».

وقال المتحدث باسم المنظمة كريستيان ليندماير في مؤتمر صحافي في جنيف: «يقدّر التقييم الأولي للمخاطر لمنظمة الصحة العالمية، بناءً على المعلومات المتاحة، أن المخاطر متوسطة إلى منخفضة بالنسبة لمدينة إيركوتسك».

«شفافية»

حظيت هذه القضية باهتمام بالغ في الولايات المتحدة، ودعا وزير الخارجية ماركو روبيو روسيا، الثلاثاء، إلى أنّ تتحلى بالشفافية، مضيفاً أنّ واشنطن تراقب الوضع «عن كثب».

في يونيو (حزيران)، أُعلن عن عقد مؤتمر بشأن الطاعون والأمراض المعدية الأخرى يجمع خبراء من جمهوريات سوفياتية سابقة عدة في إيركوتسك في 21 و22 أكتوبر (تشرين الأول).
