Evaluation from Minister Şimşek regarding labor force data

Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek made an evaluation regarding Türkiye's second quarter labor force data from account X. Şimşek announced that the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased to 7.9 percent, while employment increased by 155 thousand people on a quarterly basis.

NOTABLE DECLINE IN UNREGISTERED EMPLOYMENT

Şimşek stated that the average unregistered employment rate in sectors excluding agriculture in the last year was 15.7 percent.

Şimşek, in his X post, said, "While the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased to 7.9 percent in the second quarter, employment increased by 155 thousand people quarterly." he said.

Minister Şimşek pointed out that the unregistered employment rate was well below the historical average and said, "The average unregistered employment rate in sectors excluding agriculture in the last year was 15.7 percent, well below the historical average." he said.

REGISTERED EMPLOYMENT ALSO CONTRIBUTE TO PUBLIC FINANCES

Şimşek stated that registered employment not only provides social security to employees, but also creates significant gains in terms of public finance.

Minister Şimşek said, "The increase in registered employment, which provides social security to our employees, also provides significant gains in terms of public finance." he said.

Stating that policies aimed at increasing employment and participation in the workforce will be continued, Şimşek said, "We continue our policies that strengthen human capital, support employment and increase participation in the workforce." he said.
