Bangladesh and Türkiye Establish Joint UAV Factory in Northern Bangladesh

The Bangladesh government announced that a UAV factory will be established in the city of Bogura in the north of the country, in partnership with Türkiye. This project represents a concrete step in the defense industry cooperation between the two countries.

According to BSS news agency, the two countries will establish a comprehensive UAV factory in Bogura under a joint initiative. This strategic decision was shared by Mir Shahe Alam, Minister of State for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives. Alam stated that the project was mentioned in the parliament by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

Bogura will not be limited to UAV production alone. It was stated that the new warplanes that will join the air force inventory will be deployed directly to the new base at Bogura Airport. Thus, Bogura will become both the center of joint UAV production and a critical military air base.

The technical and commercial details of the project have not yet been clarified. Official information regarding which companies will form a consortium in the factory, which UAV models will be produced, annual production capacity, total investment amount and the start-up schedule have not been shared.

Additionally, a detail about the international dimension of the project also stood out. Shahe Alam's statements did not include any statement regarding China's involvement in this production project.
