AI-generated summary
The Business Club for Culture of Confindustria Bari and BAT has created a symbolic debate to discuss the ethical and legal implications of AI.
The first public simulated artificial intelligence trial opens in Bari on October 9th, which will take place in the courtroom of the Court of Assizes for four hearings.
During this symbolic debate conceived and organized by the Club delle Imprese per la Cultura of Confindustria Bari and BAT, AI will be accused "for the damage caused through its intrusion into people's lives".
He will answer for four charges, all inspired by real cases: incitement to suicide of a minor, induced to take his own life after months and hundreds of chat conversations; illicit dissemination of defamatory content via deepfake, relating to fake racist social content attributed to a teacher who had never actually uttered those sentences; very serious negligent personal injury due to an incorrect diagnosis of breast cancer; algorithmic labor substitution, opaque collective exclusion, illicit control, fraud through induced technological dependence and environmental disaster.
For each of these cases, representatives of the academic, business and civil society world will be called to address, from different perspectives, the opportunities, risks and implications of artificial intelligence during the four hearings on 9, 16 and 23 October and 4 November.
Among the twelve witnesses there will be Filippo Anelli, national president of the Medical Associations, the rector of the University of Bari Roberto Bellotti, the forensic psychopathologist Roberto Catanesi, university professors, entrepreneurs and trade unionists.
The prosecution will be represented by the Bari prosecutor Roberto Rossi with the lawyers Valeria Logrillo and Francesco Carparelli (Deloitte Legal); the defense by lawyers Michele Laforgia, Andrea Di Comite, Domenica Lenato and Mauro Petrarulo (Polis). Judging artificial intelligence will be the president of the Court of Appeal of Bari Maria Mitola with judge Rosa Calia Di Pinto and a popular jury.
