Remarkable detail in the school attack in Başakşehir: The attacker researched school attacks in Russia

The investigation into the attack that took place on October 6 at Kayaşehir Şeyh Şamil İmam Hatip Secondary School in Başakşehir continues.

10-year-old Eslem Sare Bulut lost her life and 7 students were injured in the attack carried out at the school by 15-year-old F.M., who came with two knives.

As part of the investigation, the digital materials found on F.M. were examined. It was reported that in the initial investigations, it was determined that F.M. investigated the school attacks in Russia and collected the documents related to these attacks in separate folders.

It was learned that the contents of the digital materials were examined to determine how the attack was planned and the extent of F.M.'s interest in these actions. It is also being investigated whether F.M. has any connection with any person, group or entity.

It was stated that F.M. was a former student of Kayaşehir Şeyh Şamil İmam Hatip Secondary School, where the attack took place. It was reported that F.M., who was studying in the 10th grade at Küçükçekmece Fahrettin Kerim Gökay Anatolian High School, came to his old school wearing his own school uniform on the morning of the incident.

According to investigations, F.M. carried the two knives he used in the attack in a bag. After entering the school, he attacked the area where the students were.

While 8 students aged between 10 and 13 were injured, Eslem Sare Bulut died in the hospital where she was taken.

Following the attack, education at the school was suspended for two days. Two inspectors were assigned to the school by the Ministry of National Education.

In the first hours of the attack, allegations were made that the incident was caused by an argument between male and female students. However, in the initial examinations carried out within the scope of the investigation, F.M. It was stated that no previous fight or hostility was detected between him and the students he targeted.

Istanbul Governor Davut Gül also announced that the attacker lived in the same neighborhood and entered the scene wearing his school uniform.

Gül stated that the attacker was studying at another school and said, "He stabs children indiscriminately."

It was stated that after the attack, the female security guard of the school intervened, neutralized F.M. and handed him over to the police.

One of the important topics of the investigation is whether the attack was planned in advance.

The fact that F.M. left the house with two knives, that he was wearing his former school's uniform, and that he had previously researched digital content related to school attacks led to a detailed examination of the preparation phase of the attack.

The source of the content in the digital materials, when it was downloaded and whether it has a direct connection with the attack are also being investigated.

Within the scope of the investigation, information regarding F.M.'s educational life is also being examined.

It was stated that F.M. was accepted to Küçükçekmece Fahrettin Kerim Gökay Anatolian High School with a success rate of 2 percent and that he was academically successful. It was also reported that F.M. was elected as the school president this academic year.

There was no record of F.M. having any serious disciplinary problems or aggressive behavior before, and the school's guidance services reported that F.M. It was claimed that no negative situation was reported about him.

The "social anxiety" claim made by F.M.'s family is also being examined within the scope of the investigation. It was stated that the investigation into whether he had received psychological support or treatment before was ongoing.

F.M., who was detained within the scope of the investigation. and his mother M.M. and his father Ş.M. were transferred to Küçükçekmece Courthouse after their procedures at the police station.

All three suspects were arrested by the court they appeared in.

After the attack, new measures regarding school security also came to the fore. Istanbul Governor Davut Gül announced that security practices in schools will be increased and door-type metal detectors will be installed at the entrances of suitable schools.
