Bayern Munich draws 0-0 against Schalke and loses the lead

FC Bayern Munich suffered the first setback of this Bundesliga season when Jamal Musiala came back. Coach Vincent Kompany's team couldn't get beyond a 0-0 draw at newly promoted FC Schalke 04. Bayern lost the league lead for the time being to SC Freiburg, who recorded their second win in the second game with a 1-0 (1-0) win at SC Paderborn.

Runner-up Borussia Dortmund also won their second game in the Bundesliga with a great energetic performance. Despite being 2-0 down, coach Niko Kovac's team managed to win 3-2 (0-1) at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.

Elversberg also turns the game

Newcomer SV Elversberg celebrated its second victory no less furiously. The Saarlanders didn't allow themselves to be deterred by a 1:3 deficit and a sending off for coach Vincent Wagner and won an almost sensational 4:3 (1:2) at Borussia Mönchengladbach. Champions League participants RB Leipzig suffered a bitter defeat with a 1:3 (0:1) defeat at Werder Bremen.

Former champions Bayer Leverkusen won the first three points with an easy 4-0 (2-0) against Union Berlin. On Friday, VfB Stuttgart also achieved their first win in a 4-1 win against 1. FC Köln.

As expected, Bayern were the team that dominated the game against Schalke, who fought passionately. But the defending champions were unable to capitalize on their dominance. For Munich, national player Jamal Musiala made his comeback 18 days after a collapse in Heidenheim. However, the 23-year-old remained largely inconspicuous after being substituted on in the 57th minute.

Dortmund catches up 0-2

In Hoffenheim, Leon Avdullahu (45th) and Tim Lemperle (54th) gave the hosts a 2-0 lead. But Serhou Guirassy (61'), substitute Fábio Silva (66') and an own goal from Albian Hajdari (87') left Dortmund still celebrating.

BVB initially had to endure another loss. The young defender Filippo Mane was injured in the first half, which meant that last-minute newcomer Ethan Nwaneri from Arsenal made his debut earlier than planned and played a decisive role in BVB's third goal. A week ago, Dortmund's new signing Giannis Konstantelias suffered a torn cruciate ligament in the 2-0 win against Hamburger SV.

Leipzig fell behind early on in Bremen thanks to a goal from Eren Dinkci (4th) and were also annoyed that referee Benjamin Brand withdrew a penalty for RB (24th). Things got even worse in the second half when returnees Niclas Füllkrug (68th) and Marco Grüll (80th) gave Werder a surprisingly clear victory. Ridle Baku's Leipzig goal was only cosmetic (90+6).

Elversberg's coach Wagner angry with the referee

Elversberg was initially very annoyed with the referee in Gladbach. The hosts' goal to make it 2-1 by Hugo Bolin was preceded by a wrong decision when throwing in, because Tim Kleindienst and not Felix Keidel from Elversberg had last touched the ball. Referee Martin Pedersen did not take back the decision, which Wagner complained loudly about twice and was shown a yellow-red card.

In the stands, Wagner then saw his team's impressive comeback. Twice Maurice Krattenmacher (66th and 90th + 2) and Keidel (80th) turned a 1:3 into a 4:3. Bolin (12th and 44th) had previously scored twice and Joe Scally (56th) once for Gladbach. David Mokwa (29th) scored the interim 1-1 for Elversberg. Fellow promoted team Paderborn is still waiting for its first goal; Maximilian Eggestein (26th) sealed the defeat against Freiburg.

Union Berlin had no chance in Leverkusen. Ezequiel Fernández (1'), Facundo Medina (28'), Patrik Schick (48') and Ibrahim Maza (66') scored the goals for the Werkself, who recovered from the opening defeat against Elversberg.
