Jewelery robbery attempt in Bayrampaşa: The clerk eluded the suspect by giving fake gold

The incident took place yesterday around 15.15 in Bayrampaşa Yıldırım District. According to the information obtained, a person wearing a black hoodie entered the jeweler and threatened Emir Gülcemal (20), who was working as a clerk in the shop, with a gun-like object in his hand. Then, he gave the young clerk the bag he brought with him and asked the gold coins on the counter to be filled into a bag. Workplace employee Emir Gülcemal calmly put 20 imitation gold bracelets into the bag without the suspect noticing and handed them over to the suspect. Suspect Necmettin T. (30) escaped from the workplace on foot with the bag he bought.

Following the incident, work was initiated by the Public Order Branch Directorate's Extortion Bureau teams. As a result of the field studies, the suspect named Necmettin T., who was determined to have committed the robbery attempt, was caught and taken into custody. The suspect, whose procedures at the police station were completed, was sent to the courthouse.

HE LOST THE GOLD THAT HE SECRETLY BOUGHT IN A BET

It was learned that the suspect, who was brought to the Public Order Branch Directorate Extortion Bureau, came to Istanbul with his family to his mother-in-law with his three-month-old baby, put the gold stolen by the child next to his mother-in-law's gold to preserve it, thus learned the location of all the gold and secretly exchanged all the gold and lost it in virtual betting.

The moments when the suspect, who was caught shortly after the incident, came for the robbery and was trapped, were recorded on the store camera. The footage shows the moments when the suspect Necmettin T. came to the shop, threatened the young clerk Emir Gülcemal with a gun-like object, gave the shop assistant the bag he brought with him to fill the gold coins, and the shop clerk calmly filled the imitations into the bag.

Jewelery store owner Kadir Aydın said, "The incident occurred yesterday around 15.15. I wasn't in the shop at that time. Our employee Emir encountered such an incident. Of course, we always say that your priority is life safety. Our friend approaches the situation very calmly. It gives us demo gold that we put as a precaution for such issues. The person walks away thinking he bought real gold. If the gold we gave was real, we would have a loss of around 5 million. But since we give a demo, we won't do any harm. We contacted the police. Later, all the tradesmen came together and helped our law enforcement. We would especially like to thank the Public Security Branch. "They caught the person immediately, less than 1-2 hours after the incident," he said.
