Berlin police seize twelve hand grenades in Friedrichshain

The Berlin police seized twelve live hand grenades. They were discovered on Monday in Berlin-Friedrichshain, the police situation center said early in the evening. No information is available on details or the background.

According to the “Bild” newspaper, the hand grenades were found in a self-storage facility, i.e. a privately rented storage room, by employees who then alerted the police. The grenades were then rendered harmless at the blast site in Grunewald.

It is not yet known who left the hand grenades in the storage room and why.
