Russia will continue to raise the need to protect Orthodox Christians in Ukraine with American negotiators.

According to Mikhail Melech, Russia does not yet have the feeling that the United States is seriously interested in resolving this issue.

Russia will continue to raise the topic of the need to protect Orthodox Christians in Ukraine with American negotiators, said Mikhail Melech, special representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry for international cooperation in the field of ensuring the right to freedom of religion.

“This topic (maybe not of the first order) is heard in contacts with the American side. We and the United States look at the problem of preserving traditional values ​​and protecting Christians from quite close positions. In any case, we will continue to talk with the American side and convince them of the need to protect the rights of Christian believers in Ukraine,” he said in an interview with Russian journalists in Geneva.

He added that “at the same time, we do not yet have the feeling that those overseas are seriously interested in resolving this issue.”

At the end of August, the Russian Foreign Ministry published on its official website a report on the illegal actions of the Kyiv regime against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, its clergy and parishioners.
