Cape Verdean goalkeeper Vozigny's mother to receive World Cup visa

MOSCOW, June 18 - RIA Novosti. The Democratic Minority Leader in the US House of Representatives, Hakeem Jeffries, took to the social network X to announce that the mother of Cape Verdean national team goalkeeper Vozinha will receive a visa and come to the World Cup.

On Monday, Cape Verde made its World Cup debut with a draw against the reigning European champions, Spain. The meeting of the first round of Group H took place in Atlanta (USA) and ended with a score of 0:0. 40-year-old Vozinha was recognized as the best player with seven saved shots. After the match, the goalkeeper could not hold back his tears and later told the media that his mother was not allowed into the United States due to visa problems. Jeffries later said he asked Secretary of State Marco Rubio to do everything possible to get Vozinha's mother into the country.

"We are honored to announce that Vozinha's mom will be able to obtain her visa in time to attend Sunday's game against Uruguay. I thank Secretary Rubio, the department's staff, the Government of Cape Verde and FIFA for working together," Jeffries wrote.

Vozinier is 40 years old and played last season for Chaves of the Portuguese second league. He has 89 matches for the national team, which is the second most in the history of the team.
