The Egyptian Zamalek team qualified for the third-place match and the bronze medal in the Men’s Handball Club World Cup (Super Globe), currently being held in the New Administrative Capital in Egypt.
Zamalek achieved a difficult victory over Brazilian Pinheiros, 28-27, on Tuesday, at the end of its matches in the first group of the main round of the competition, to secure second place in the group.
Zamalek ended the first half with a 16-14 lead before maintaining its advantage during the second half and deciding the match by one goal.
Zamalek is scheduled to play the match for third place and the bronze medal, on Thursday, against the second-placed team in Group Two, where it will meet the winner of the match between its traditional rivals Al-Ahly of Egypt and FOX Berlin of Germany, which will be held later on Tuesday evening, in the final round of the group.
The Hungarian Veszprém qualified for the final match of the competition, after being at the top of the standings of the second group, as it currently has 4 points on its score, with a difference of two points in front of its closest rivals, Fox Berlin and Al-Ahly, who are in second and third place respectively, who were defeated by the Hungarian club, which concludes its matches in the group against Burgan of Kuwait, which is at the bottom of the standings without points, also on Tuesday.
Veszprem set a date in the final, which will be held on Thursday, with Spanish Barcelona, which also clinched the top spot in Group A with 4 points, after its victory over Zamalek and Pinheiros, as it plays its final match in the tournament against the Moroccan Sultan Forum, bottom of the standings with no points, on Tuesday.
The Egyptian national team regained confidence with its landslide victory over its host, South Sudan, 5-0, on Tuesday, in the second round of the second group competitions for the 2027 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
This great victory at the National Stadium in Juba, the capital of South Sudan, comes after the Pharaohs stumbled to a scoreless draw with Angola in Cairo at the opening of the qualifiers, last Friday.
Mustafa Abdel Raouf “Zico” (36), Omar Marmoush (49 and 83), and substitutes Ibrahim Adel (75) and Hamza Abdel Karim (90 + 2) scored the goals of the Pharaohs, who raised their score to 4 points at the top of the group, awaiting the match between Angola and Malawi, which will be held next October 6 in Luanda.

The Sudanese team reduced the gap with a single goal scored by Yassin Hamed from a penalty kick in the 88th minute.

Levadiakos Club, competing in the Greek Football League, announced on Tuesday that it had signed Egyptian Mohamed Elneny, a former Arsenal player, in a free transfer.
Elneny (34 years old) left the Emirati club Al Jazeera at the end of last season, following the expiration of his contract with the club.
Levadiakos said in a statement on his official website: “Levadiakos is pleased to announce the signing of the Egyptian international defensive midfielder Mohamed Elneny. Elneny joins our team after a career full of achievements at the local and international levels,” referring to the player’s career during which he defended the colors of 6 clubs since his beginnings with the Arab Contractors. Elneny also played for Swiss teams Basel and Turkish Besiktas.
The club added: “The Levadiakos family welcomes Mohamed Elneny and wishes him every success in the team’s shirt.”
Elneny played 103 international matches with the Egyptian national team, during which he scored 8 goals, and reached the final of the African Cup of Nations twice.
His experience with Arsenal remains the most prominent in his professional career, as he spent 7 and a half years with the London club, winning the FA Cup once and the Community Shield twice, and reaching the Europa League final in the 2018-2019 season.
It is noteworthy that Levadiakos started its local season in the Greek League with a disastrous start, and obtained only one point from its first five matches, from one draw and 4 defeats.
