Chamber approves retroactive salary adjustment for municipal employees in João Pessoa

The text was approved in the form of a substitute presented by the government leader, Bruno Miranda (PDT), with 40 votes in favor.

The proposal guarantees an adjustment in the base salary of permanent positions and public jobs in direct administration in the following areas: general administration, education, engineering and architecture, integrated inspection, legal, medicine, health, public security, taxation and health surveillance.

The increase will also be applied to the salaries of municipal and foundational administration.

The adjustment will be retroactive to May 1, 2026. According to the city hall, the estimated impact on this year's accounts is R$213.4 million.

The project foresees progression to positions such as municipal health inspector, urban and environmental control inspector and teachers. It also establishes criteria for granting Special Activities Bonus (GAE) and establishes cost assistance for specific careers.

Furthermore, it authorizes the city hall to establish the Voluntary Dismissal Program (PDV) for public employees of local authorities retired under the General Social Security Regime until November 12, 2019.
