Catholic, tries to kill his wife by throwing his car into the sea: 45-year-old arrested

Cattolica – The 45-year-old of Albanian origin who yesterday threw himself into the sea with his wife in the car in the port of Cattolica has been tracked down and arrested. The Carabinieri of the Riccione Company identified him late yesterday evening near a wooded area not far from his home in San Giovanni in Marignano. The charge is attempted murder.

The reconstruction

According to what was reconstructed by the investigators, also on the basis of the statements made by the woman, yesterday afternoon the man would have proposed to her to go out together in the car with the excuse of going shopping. Despite considering the request 'unusual', his wife had accepted. Once they reached the port area, however, the 45-year-old suddenly accelerated, heading towards the sea and ending up in the water, at a point where the depth reaches around 3 metres, after hitting a pole. The first to leave the passenger compartment of the car was the man, while the woman, initially trapped in the car which was filling with water, only managed to free herself later by breaking the rear window.

The rescue

A scene that occurred in broad daylight and in front of several people who immediately took action to help them. Two men in particular dived in and with the help of a line provided by the dock they reached and rescued the couple. Upon reaching the dock, the 44-year-old, badly shaken and unable to swim, was taken to Pesaro hospital for treatment. The man, however, fled, losing track of himself. The searches began immediately with several patrols that combed the area and which ended hours later. The investigations made it possible to reconstruct the entire story. On the night of August 18, the military intervened in the couple's home in San Giovanni in Marignano, after reports of a family dispute. On that occasion the man, in the sight of the soldiers, had shown himself to be aggressive, resisting control, causing minor injuries to two soldiers and damaging a company car. He was then arrested for resisting a public official. Subjected to immediate trial, after the validation of the arrest he was subjected to the obligation to report to the judicial police.

The threats

Convinced that his wife was responsible for his arrest, when he returned home he asked her if it was she who had called the military, developing a deep resentment towards her. "The 45-year-old, before going out with his spouse, would also have proposed to his adult daughter to accompany them, however receiving a refusal", underline the carabinieri. The dynamics of the entry of the car into the waters of the port, the depth of the point involved, the statements collected and the further elements acquired during the investigations allowed the investigators to outline a serious circumstantial framework against the man, believing that his objective was to kill his wife.
