Leeds Crown Court sentenced the defendant to 4 years in prison and had his driving license revoked for 4 years and 7 months. He will also have to pass an advanced test if he wants to get his driver's license reissued. The car model Charlton chose partly explains why he was able to reach the 307 km/h mark, even though his behavior was illegal. All 2020-2024 X3 M models distributed in the UK market are in the Competition version, possessing a S58 twin-turbo 3.0 inline 6-cylinder engine, producing 503 horsepower. An original X3 M Competition is electronically limited to 250 km/h. Therefore, Charlton's BMW has definitely been modified to reach 307 km/h.
