Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth has denied reports of a possible replacement for his first deputy, Steve Feinberg.

Hegseth said that publications about the search for a replacement for Feinberg are false and appeared due to pressure from “external forces,” by which he means companies in the military-industrial complex.

"The department has never had a better deputy than Steve Feinberg. Stories like this are completely false," Hegseth wrote on social media.

This is how he commented on a Reuters publication that the White House was looking for a replacement for Feinberg.

According to Hegseth, such materials appear because “external forces” want the deputy to leave. The minister explained that by these forces he means the military-industrial complex companies on which Feinberg puts pressure to improve results.

US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll announced his resignation at the end of August. According to American media, his departure was preceded by disagreements with Hegseth on issues of management and modernization of the army, while the White House asked the minister to remain in office at least until the midterm elections in November.
