The statement said: “We thank God Almighty for the release of our brother Abdul Rahman Yousef Al-Qaradawi from his prison, where he spent more than a year and eight months, after the presidential pardon issued by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.”

He continued: "As we thank the leadership of the United Arab Emirates for this step, let us extend our sincere thanks to His Excellency President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Turkish leadership, which have done a lot for this issue, and have spared no effort until our brother Abdul Rahman is released."

On Friday, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan pardoned Abdul Rahman Al-Qaradawi, who was convicted by the Abu Dhabi Federal Court of Appeal, Cybercrimes Department, on August 27, 2026, for the crimes charged against him and punished with 10 years in prison and fined 200,000 dirhams.

Al-Qaradawi arrived in the Emirates after the Lebanese authorities handed him over at the beginning of last year, based on a request for temporary arrest issued against him by the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers - Department of Prosecution and Criminal Data, and submitted by the competent authorities in the Emirates for committing “acts that would provoke and disturb public security.”
