"It is very important to implement the framework law"

The 3rd Ordinary Congress of DEM Party Van Provincial Chairmanship was held in a wedding hall. DEM Party Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları, Van Deputies Pervin Buldan, Zülküf Uçar and Gülcan Kaçmaz Sayyiğit, party executives, organization representatives from Hakkari, Bitlis and Iğdır, representatives of non-governmental organizations and many party members attended the congress.

Speaking at the congress, DEM Party Co-Chairman Tülay Hatimoğulları commemorated those who lost their lives in the Van earthquake and expressed her wishes for a speedy recovery due to the firedamp explosion in the mine in Zonguldak. Stating that the will of the people was demonstrated in the local elections in Van, Hatimoğulları said that they did not accept the appointment of trustees instead of the elected co-mayors.

'WE WILL FIND THE WAY TO PERMANENT PEACE'

Stating that they want the politicians in prison to be released, Tülay Hatimoğulları said, "There is no need for a framework law for this. There is no need for a National Security Council decision for this. We know that the society's expectations for peace are high. Uncertainties regarding the progress of the process lead to a loss of trust in the society. The society expects the promises made to be kept and the things discussed in the negotiations to be implemented. Now it is necessary to move on to the next stage of the process. It is very important to implement the framework law in order to take democratization steps."

Stating that the peace process cannot be progressed by just waiting, Hatimoğulları stated that concrete steps must be taken and said, "Democratic politics must be strengthened to ensure permanent peace. We will find a way to a permanent peace where weapons are replaced by politics, distrust is replaced by law, denial is replaced by equality. Social organization is important in the construction of the peace and democratic society process that started with the call of Abdullah Öcalan."

BULDAN: ÖCALAN'S JOB DESCRIPTION SHOULD BE MADE ASAP

Speaking at the congress, DEM Party İmralı Delegation member Pervin Buldan said that the process is progressing step by step, but expectations and question marks in the society are increasing. Buldan argued that Öcalan's role should be clearly defined in order for the process to progress faster.

In the election held with a single list, Lawyer Veysi Güneş and Gülşen Kurt were elected as the new co-chairs of the DEM Party Van Provincial Directorate.
