ChatGPT can read health data on Android

OpenAI may be working on a new health feature on Android. Because the ChatGPT Health Connect integration appeared in the code of version 1.2026.300 of the application. Additionally, this connection can enable the chatbot to read activity data on the phone.

There is a lot of data that fitness wristbands collect. However, making these numbers meaningful is often difficult. Moreover, Google Gemini connected with Google Health and Strava at the beginning of this year. Therefore, ChatGPT users on Android were waiting for similar support.

What Permissions Are There in ChatGPT Health Connect Code?

The Android Authority team noticed new permissions in the app's software analysis. These permissions will allow ChatGPT to read activity data stored on the phone. On the other hand, iPhone users can already sync their Apple Health data to their accounts.

The permission list is quite detailed. For example, the code contains an access request for the following data:

Menstrual cycle and ovulation records

Access to long-term historical records is also particularly noteworthy. Thus, the chatbot can draw meaningful conclusions from months of habits. However, the full scope of the ChatGPT Health Connect connection is not yet clear.

Background Sync and Privacy

There is also a background synchronization permission. Accordingly, the app can pull new fitness data without you opening it. So OpenAI may be looking to use this constant stream of data for personalized wellness recommendations and habit recommendations.

On the other hand, an artificial intelligence assistant's constant access to private body data also raises privacy questions. That's why transparent controls will be of great importance. Additionally, users will want to clearly see what data is shared. It is also a matter of curiosity what ChatGPT Health Connect settings will offer in this regard.

Security Precautions and Exit Expectation
