South Korean short track star Choi Min-jeong, who plans to retire from the national team after this season, won the women's 1,000-meter title for the second straight week on the ISU Short Track World Tour.

Choi won Saturday's final in 1 minute, 30.273 seconds at Maurice Richard Arena in Montreal during the second stop of the 2026-27 World Tour.

She collected one gold, two silver and one bronze medal at last week's opening event, including a victory in the 1,000 meters.

Choi came from behind in Saturday's final against three Canadians, including Courtney Sarault, and Belgium's Hanne Desmet.

She stayed in fourth place early as the Canadians occupied the top three spots, then made her move with two laps remaining.

Choi passed two Canadian skaters around the outside and entered the final lap in second. She then cut inside at the last corner to overtake Sarault for the win.

Choi also helped South Korea win silver in the women's 3,000-meter relay.

Teaming with Shim Suk-hee, Kim Geon-hee and Kim Min-ji, Choi took over as the anchor with South Korea in third place.

She passed Canada on the inside at the final corner and stretched her skate across the finish line.

Italy won in 4:12.931, with South Korea second in 4:12.945 after a photo finish.

South Korea did not win any other medals Saturday.

Shin Dong-min finished fourth in the men's 1,500-meter final, while no South Korean advanced to the men's 500-meter final.

Shin, Bae Seo-chan, Lee Gyu-ho and Kim Tae-sung won their semifinal heat to reach the men's 5,000-meter relay final.

In the mixed 2,000-meter relay semifinals, Shin, Kim Tae-sung, Shim Suk-hee and Choi Ji-hyun finished fourth in their heat and advanced to the B final.

South Korea will compete in the final medal events Sunday before returning home to prepare for the third World Tour stop.
