Hundreds of Ceuta residents demonstrate to demand the protection of children in the face of the migratory crisis

Several hundred Ceuta residents took to the streets again this Sunday to demand, on this occasion, that the rights and protection of children residing in the city be guaranteed, who have been deprived of numerous activities in the last month due to migratory pressure.

The residents have gathered in the central Plaza de los Reyes, next to the Government Delegation building, in an event organized by the Citizen Forum for Aid to Ceuta and Melilla, as well as through social networks.

Numerous families with children, as well as students, have been the ones who have mostly supported this mobilization of more than 500 people shouting "For the children of Ceuta."

The protesters have demanded that the administrations guarantee the rights, protection and well-being of Ceuta's children in the face of the presence on the streets of thousands of migrants who entered the city illegally on July 30.

"I need to be a child in my city" or "August has been stolen from us" have been some of the signs carried in this peaceful call, in which citizens have demanded the departure of the migrants by emphasizing that Ceuta "is not a CETI", in relation to the location of various places to house these migrants.

At the end of the call, a manifesto was read that underlines that the children "have not caused this crisis, they have not decided how it should be managed and they have no responsibility but they are suffering its consequences."
