Esplanada dos Ministérios will have a special security scheme for the September 7th parade

The traditional parade on September 7th at the Esplanada dos Ministérios, this Monday (7th), will have increased security with specialized troops operating throughout the central region of Brasília.

On Sunday (6), from 4pm onwards, vehicle traffic will be interrupted between Plano Piloto Bus Station and Via L4. Access to Praça dos Três Poderes will be restricted, and public buildings will be protected by fences.

Emergency and firefighting teams will also be on site.

This year, 30,000 people are expected to watch the parade. The start is scheduled for 9am, ending around 11am.

The stands will open at 6am. The public will have five access points to the parade area, all with personal search lines, which will be carried out by military police officers.

Access to the Esplanade is via route S1 (side of the Cathedral) and the ministry stairs – the first two on the South side (blocks A and C) and the first two on the North (blocks J and M). People with disabilities will have access through the Block J tunnel, which has a connecting ramp with the reserved space between the ministry and Via N1.

When the capacity of the stands is reached, the public will be advised to remain in the external areas designated for spectators, with tents and hydration points on the North and South sides of the Esplanade.

Safety Tips

Given the possibility of strong sun and high temperatures, the recommendation is to reinforce hydration, in addition to the use of light clothing, sunscreen, caps or hats.

Please note that it is not permitted to access the Esplanade with glass bottles, cans, cups, coolers and styrofoam. The organizers' suggestion is to use individual plastic bottles for hydration.

The possession of fireworks, sprays and aerosols, firearms, including toy weapons, sharp objects, laser pointers, masks of any type, except facial protection, flag poles and other materials that put the safety of the public present at risk are also prohibited.

Bags and backpacks must be up to 100 centimeters in total dimensions (height, width and depth).

Motorcyclists should be aware: helmets will not be allowed into the parade area. The guideline is to provide a safe way to keep them next to the vehicle in advance.

It is also important to highlight that only authorized drones will be able to access the airspace at the parade site. Animals in general are also not allowed, except guide dogs.

A structure, called Police City, will be set up next to the Museum of the Republic. The location will serve as a support point for security agents, with the corporations' mobile commands. Images from drones and cameras will contribute to policing.

At Cidade Policia it will be possible to record incidents and block any lost, stolen or stolen cell phones, through the Fora da Rede program.

A specific area will be set up next to the Police City to welcome lost people. In the case of a lost child, teenager, elderly person or any other person, the advice is to immediately look for a uniformed team or go to the reception point.

Transport

The capital's public transport system will be reinforced and will operate as follows: DF Metro is operating on a holiday basis, from 5:30 am to 7 pm.

The buses will follow the Vai de Graça program, which operates on Sundays and holidays, with free use of public transport throughout the Federal District.

To guarantee service, 134 extra buses will reinforce the fleet, heading to the central area of ​​the capital. Extra trips will be activated according to the increase in demand, from 6 am, towards Plano Piloto, and from 1 pm, for the return of the population.

For those who opt for transport via apps, disembarkation is on the upper platform of the Plano Piloto Bus Station. For taxis, the stop is the Sesi Lab parking lot, next to the bus station.

"Those who opt for a private vehicle will be able to use, depending on the availability of spaces, the parking lots of the ministries' annexes on the south and north sides and the SESI Lab parking lot. The spaces will not be reserved and can be occupied quickly. The recommendation, also in this case, is to arrive early", informed the Government of the Federal District (GDF).

Open on public holidays:

On this Independence Day, the Brasília Zoo and the conservation units of the Brasília Environmental Institute — each with their respective opening hours — operate normally.

The Zoo will be open from 8:30 am to 5 pm, with free entry (allowed until 4 pm), while the parks open at 5:30 am and, in some units, open until 10 pm.

The Brasília Art Museum (MAB) and the Samambaia and Planaltina cultural complexes will be open, with activities such as exhibitions, shows, dance and theater classes between 8am and 10pm, depending on the space.

Community restaurants will also operate normally for coffee, lunch and dinner, with the exception of the Ceilândia, DJ Jamaika unit, which does not open on holidays and optional points.

In other words, the community restaurants in Arniqueira, Brazlândia, Ceilândia Norte, Estrutural, Gama, Itapoã, Santa Maria, Recanto das Emas, Riacho Fundo II, São Sebastião, Sol Nascente/Pôr do Sol, Samambaia, Samambaia Expansão, Sobradinho, Varjão, Paranoá and Planaltina will be open.
