Reaction to Çiğli Mayor's switch to AKP

Following Çiğli Mayor Onur Emrah Yıldız's resignation from CHP and joining the AKP, NEW Party Izmir Organization and Labor and Democracy Forces components made a press statement in front of the town hall. In the statement made with resignation slogans, NEW Party Izmir Provincial Chairman Çağatay Güç said the following:

"The discourse that the AKP government boasted about as 'our cause' turned out to actually be about making their supporters the richest people in the world. While our people were hungry, their only cause was to become rich. They collapsed on all the assets of our country as a cause. They made everywhere dysfunctional. They destroyed every place they touched with unqualified men. They think they will get out of this dark order by intimidating, deceiving and seducing their opponents. Do you think our people do not see these? Milletimiz her şeyi görüyor. "This shame is enough for you and more than that. We are the children of this country. We are from Izmir. We are people who are devoted to our hometown and country. We need to stand upright. We do not need people who bend down and bend, we need truly honorable people. We manage our political process with the NEW human resources that are honest, moral and characterful. Our people do not want to see slippery people in politics who do not keep what they say. We will learn many lessons from this process. As a country, as a nation, we will learn great lessons from this difficult process of the AKP government." Our beautiful country will not be someone's toy. Our nation is the priority and we will not let the will of the nation be crushed. Our country will set out on a pure NEW path with justice, decency, dignity and honor. Our nation wants a new government. "We will revive our country and our cities with our new staff. We will save our country and our nation from this dark order."

“ONUR EMRAH YILDIZ SHOULD LEAVE THAT SEAT IMMEDIATELY”

Making a statement on behalf of the Labor Party, Barış İpek said, "The will of the people of Çiğli is not for sale. Today, the palace government, which has no legitimacy left and is steeped in corruption from its ministers to its members of parliament, is trying to maintain its power with all the coercive devices it uses, especially the judiciary stick. What we are facing now is the last link of this. Today's palace power all over Türkiye is trying to collapse the municipalities through the people's most basic right to vote and be elected. However, another point of this is that in return, the AKP government, the People's Alliance, "Today, Çiğli Municipality Mayor Onur Emrah Yılmaz became the mayor with the votes of the people of Çiğli against the AKP and the People's Alliance. If Onur Emrah Yılmaz wants to pursue politics in the AK Party and the People's Alliance, he should leave that seat immediately," he said.

MUNICIPALITY IS IMPORTANT, NOT BADGE

Turkish Labor Party Izmir Provincial Chairman Orhan Kiper said, "The badge your mayor wore, the badge he wore yesterday, the badge he wore today is not important at all. If he sells public resources, if the friends of the People's Alliance offer your resources and the resources of your children to their comrades, that person should be treated as if he has joined the AKP, even if he has not already joined the AKP.
