China News Service, Tai'an, September 10 (Reporter Liang Ben) The reporter learned from a press conference held by the Tai'an Municipal People's Government Information Office on the 10th that the first CMG World Robot Climbing Mount Tai Competition will be held in the city on October 29, 2026. The track is set on the Mount Taishan Mountain Hiking Trail from Hongmen to Zhongtianmen, with a total distance of about 3.8 kilometers and a total of more than 3,100 steps.
According to Ma Baowen, member of the Standing Committee of the Tai'an Municipal Party Committee and Minister of the Propaganda Department, this competition has the theme of "climbing high, looking far, and competing smartly on Mount Tai". It has two categories: racing and special competitions, including four official competitions: humanoid robot, footed robot, footed robot load-bearing, and exoskeleton robot assistance, and a global mobile pathfinding challenge. As of now, all preparations for the competition have been basically completed.
Ma Baowen said that this competition is held in Mount Tai, the first of the five mountains. The selected route is a classic route for visiting Mount Tai. There are many cliff carvings and ancient architectural ruins along the way. The mountain scenery, traditional culture and modern technology complement each other, which is a new paradigm of the integration of "technology + culture + sports". The Taishan Mountaineering Trail has a complex environment, with real environments such as continuous stone steps, steep slopes and curves, and narrow roads, which will bring greater tests to the robot's ability to perceive and make decisions, adapt to the environment, and perform operations.
During the event, Tai'an will simultaneously hold the 2026 China (Taishan) Embodied Intelligent Industry Development Cooperation Conference, the Embodied Intelligent Industry Ecological Exhibition, and the Technology Docking Exchange Meeting. Leading enterprises, universities, research institutes, and investment institutions in related industries at home and abroad will be invited to participate to build a platform for technical exchanges, product display, supply and demand docking, and resource cooperation to promote two-way empowerment of event competition and industry development. At the same time, a local robot climbing Mount Tai short video competition will be held to show the exciting moments of this competition in multiple dimensions and enhance the dissemination and influence of the event.
