Trump administration bans CNN, MSNBC, and Politico from entering the White House... Coverage of Xi Jinping's visit to the US is disrupted

According to the New York Times (NYT) on the 24th (local time), the White House Broadcasting Joint Reporting Group (Full Team) recently began refusing to cover coverage as a collective protest against the Trump administration's ban on three media outlets, including CNN, MS Now, and Politico, from entering the White House.

Although President Xi and his wife arrived at the White House on this day, the broadcast joint news team did not cover the official welcome ceremony video, and the scene of President Donald Trump personally visiting Andrews Base near Washington, D.C. the day before to personally greet President Xi and his wife as they set foot on American soil was not included in major news.

CBS, Fox News, and NBC reporters installed cameras at Andrews Base, but withdrew from the site when a temporary restraining order regarding the entry ban was not immediately issued by the federal district court.

All that remained at the base were small TV stations such as the Light Side Broadcasting Network and One America News.

The Associated Press filmed the video, but decided not to stream it through its own platform.

Even now, ahead of the state dinner, the White House has not provided a clear response to the joint reporting team, including CNN, and on-site video coverage has been virtually halted.

In response, President Trump expressed his dissatisfaction through Truth Social, a social networking service (SNS).

He targeted CNN and MS Now, saying, "They refused to cover the arrival of the respected President Xi and the beautiful First Lady Peng Liyuan at the White House, the biggest and most beautiful event held in years today," and claimed, "I did not attend because I did not want the credit to go to Trump."

At the same time, he did not spare praise for the Chinese state-run media, which the government controls.

The White House press corps reported that President Trump joked about how China has the friendliest press corps, referring to the Chinese media requesting President Xi to speak.

The conflict between the Trump administration and major media suddenly erupted on the 18th.

The White House announced a ban on CNN, MS Now, and Politico, saying they were writing negative articles about the Republican Party.

Accordingly, the White House Broadcasting Joint Coverage Group stopped reporting on President Trump on a rotating basis and providing joint coverage to domestic and foreign media, and the White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA) issued a statement, pointing out the possibility of violating the 1st Amendment to the Constitution.

President Trump confronted each other fiercely and even started a broadcast called 'Trump TV', which broadcasts his news through a 24-hour streaming broadcast.

Not only at the White House but also in other places, he scolded CNN and others that they could not cover him.

President Trump visited the UN headquarters in New York on the 22nd to attend the UN General Assembly, and when he encountered a CNN reporter, he scolded him, saying, "You shouldn't be covering me." He also sarcastically said that CNN and others would show up when he met with President Xi the next day.

Meanwhile, a federal district court ordered CNN, Politico, and MS Now to immediately resume access, saying that the White House's ban on entry early in the morning without prior notice or opportunity to explain may have violated constitutional rights.

According to the Associated Press, reporters from three companies tried to return to the White House this morning, but there was friction, with Secret Service (SS) agents confiscating their passes. Afterwards, I was able to enter the White House again around noon.

The Trump administration explained that it simply took time to go through the process of reissuing the pass.

However, this court order is a temporary injunction that will remain in effect for 14 days. The media and the Trump administration are expected to engage in a full-scale legal battle in the future.
