New development in Coldcard attacks: Critical information was given to law enforcement forces

Research continues on the Coldcard attacks, which made a big impact in the Bitcoin and crypto world and where more than $115 million worth of BTC has been stolen so far. Companies such as Galaxy and Block also support the process, and finally, it appears that very important information has been given to law enforcement agencies.

Information regarding the investigation shows that US law enforcement may have accessed some of the attackers' information. According to the information shared by Bitcoin Magazine, researchers of Block company, led by Jack Dorsey, had been investigating the attack since the first day. During this investigation, they determined that one of the attackers was working in an orderly manner.

Block researchers think that the attacker used a paid blockchain analysis account here. Every step of the hacker, who determines which accounts to attack through this account and accesses on-chain information, exactly matches the moves in this account. For now, neither the name of the attacker nor the data provider of this company has been disclosed, but it is stated that all information has been forwarded to law enforcement. Therefore, identification may not take long and may even be found.

Block company researchers also found that the data provider company did not assist the attacker or attackers. This company appears to provide the service it is supposed to provide to its customers and does not take any other questionable steps.

The 1082 BTC stolen in the first wave have not yet been transferred to other places from the addresses they were sent to. In other words, the hacker never touched BTCs after his first attack.

Experts are also still unsure whether the attack was carried out from outside or from inside. The claim that a vulnerability deliberately left in the system years ago may have been exploited by someone within the company is now included in the scenarios. Although there is no clear determination about this yet, the investigation continues on this issue.
