Vitalik Buterin praises the Bitcoin community

Vitalik Buterin, one of the founders of Ethereum, shared a review article about scaling Ethereum and said, "The Bitcoin community deserves praise for pioneering such ideas. Especially for Utreexo..."

As it is known, in Bitcoin, all validators, that is, nodes, keep track of unspent outputs, also known as UTXO. Utreexo, on the other hand, allows verifying transactions with smaller summaries. Here Buterin also praises this system:

The blog post titled "Using UTXO in Ethereum..." mentions the difference in the working style between Ethereum and Bitcoin.

In Ethereum, when ETH is sent to an address or an address holds an ERC-20 token, these records are kept forever. Therefore, there is a greater storage and storage load on the nodes.

Bitcoin has the UTXO model. A Bitcoin record is created in an account and this record remains until the BTCs are spent. After the expenditure is made, this record is deleted and new records are created based on the new BTC amounts, including the sender and the sent account. However, the record before the expenditure is deleted. Since it is deleted, the storage load on validators decreases.
