Outra alternativa é enviar o Requerimento de Justificativa Eleitoral (RJE) à zona eleitoral. Nesse caso, é necessário:

baixar o formulário;

preencher os dados pessoais;

anexar cópia dos documentos comprobatórios;

encaminhar o pedido à zona eleitoral responsável.

Como justificar se estiver no exterior

Eleitores com domicílio eleitoral no Brasil que estiverem fora do país no dia da votação também podem justificar a ausência. O pedido pode ser feito:

em até 60 dias após cada turno; ou

em até 30 dias após o retorno ao Brasil.

A justificativa pode ser apresentada por qualquer uma das três opções explicadas acima: pelo e-Título, pelo Autoatendimento Eleitoral ou pelo formulário RJE.

Quem deixa de votar e não apresenta justificativa fica sujeito ao pagamento de multa eleitoral, que pode custar até R$ 3,51.

Além disso, enquanto a situação não for regularizada, o eleitor pode enfrentar restrições para obter a certidão de quitação eleitoral, documento exigido em situações como posse em cargo público, inscrição em concursos públicos e emissão de passaporte.

Se a ausência ocorrer em três eleições consecutivas, sem justificativa e sem pagamento das multas, o título de eleitor poderá ser cancelado. Cada turno é considerado uma eleição para esse cálculo.
