Cury appears in third place with 10% in voting intentions, according to the Quaest survey

A Quaest survey showed Cury isolated in third place, with 10% of voting intentions, ahead of Renan Santos (Missão), with 3%, and Ronaldo Caiado (PSD) and Romeu Zema (Novo), with 1% each. Lula leads with 37%, and Flávio Bolsonaro has 29% in the 1st round scenario with 12 candidates, which does not include Pablo Marçal (PRTB), who is ineligible. Click here to see the complete data.

"Now, we have become the industry of haters, they attack us from all sides, they make those little 15-second cuts, they distort everything," said Cury during a visit to the Israeli Federation of the State of São Paulo. The candidate said that, despite the attacks, he defends freedom of expression.

A debutant in elections, the best-selling writer avoided polemicizing and mocked the statements of Renan Santos, who called him a "wind pastry", implying that Cury has no content.

"I'm happy that we have opponents, we don't have enemies. I really like pastries. I think they're delicious," he said. "I respect Renan, I'm not going to offend him. I just want to say that, I reiterate, opponents have to put forward their proposals. And the Brazilian people are the ones who decide", he added.

Cury once again defended one of his economic proposals: dividing BNDES's activities between large companies and micro and small businesses. "I would divide BNDES into two. In the first week, the bank for large companies and the bank for micro and small companies, so that millions of dreams are realized in communities, also in public schools and in the most diverse cities", he said.

"I'm very happy that at Quaest we have 10%", he stated. Cury said he has a small campaign team, but has "a big heart to pacify the Brazilian nation."

Cury also stated that Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), must provide clarifications after a report from the Federal Police (PF) revealed that he had a close relationship with Daniel Vorcaro, former owner of Banco Master who is in prison accused of billion-dollar fraud.

The candidate argued that, if errors are found that justify his removal, in a possible investigation, the magistrate should leave the Court or face an impeachment process.

"Alexandre de Moraes must explain himself, yes. And, if he made mistakes that could lead to exclusion, he should have the dignity to exclude himself, or else suffer impeachment," he stated.

When asked directly whether he was in favor of Moraes leaving the STF, Cury did not defend his immediate removal and conditioned the measure on the investigation of the facts. "The Court is the one who will judge. My position is clear, convinced, because public office is serious."

The candidate also said that, in his eventual government, there would be no "shielding" of authorities. "There will be no shielding of anyone, be it the president, a minister, or any position," he stated.
