The Trump administration plans to send $500 checks to about 1 million people it says overpaid for coverage under Obamacare, a health care program launched by former President Barack Obama. Payments will be sent to residents of 30 states before the November 3 midterm elections.

The funds will come from the $500 million the administration says was raised through overpayments of premiums under the Affordable Care Act.

“This money was collected beyond measure and simply sat in government accounts,” an American official told the portal.

The official added that reimbursement is available to all Obamacare members who do not receive coverage under the program.
