Also a starting point for exploration of asteroids and Mars: A journey to explore the origin of life - the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for the "Soai reaction"

Professor Emeritus Kenzo Soai (76) of Tokyo University of Science discovered ``asymmetric autocatalytic reactions'' and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. This discovery will lead to elucidation of why life on Earth uses only left-handed molecules, and will serve as a starting point for research on the origin of life on asteroids and in the Martian sphere, including the Hayabusa2 exploration of Ryugu and the future MMX mission.

Ultra-long life is based on mitochondrial function: Cellular energy production - international team analyzes 194-year-old giant tortoise

Genomic analysis of Jonathan, the world's oldest giant tortoise at 194 years old, revealed that a group of genes involved in maintaining mitochondrial function and DNA repair are well regulated. An international team including the Carrel Foundation in the US published this in Science Advances. Expectations are high for elucidating the longevity mechanism.
