The presence of Gene Lang at the preparatory meeting indicates that Washington's restrictions could be part of Vladimir Putin's discussions with Donald Trump's special envoys.

MOSCOW, September 6 – RIA Novosti. The US Treasury Department official responsible for sanctions, Gene Lang, was part of the American delegation that visited Moscow, reports the Axios portal.

“Gene Lang, the current “sanctions czar” at the US Treasury, joined Witkoff and Kushner on a trip (to Moscow - Ed.). Lang participated in a preparatory meeting with Putin’s envoy Kirill Dmitriev, but was not present at the meeting with Putin,” the publication says.

According to the article, Lang's presence indicates that Washington's restrictions may have been part of the discussions.

According to the publication, the White House also sent officials from the National Security Council and the State Department.

The day before, Vladimir Putin met in the Kremlin with special envoys of the US President Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. The conversation lasted three hours and ten minutes. This was the eighth visit of Washington representatives to Russia.
