Lin Guozhang released Yilan’s golden ten-year industrial development plan to promote artificial intelligence and drone industries

Lin Guozhang, candidate for mayor of Yilan County of the Democratic Progressive Party, today announced the "Yilan Golden Ten-Year Industrial Development Plan", proposing three main axes: the use of artificial intelligence in various industries, the entry of industries in the two norths into Yilan, and the new healthy living economy. Legislator Chen Junyu and representatives from industry and academia attended to support the plan, hoping to create a drone town through technological transformation to drive overall wages.

Lin Guozhang said that the first step is to introduce artificial intelligence to various industries, secure resources to establish a platform, assist the agriculture, fishery, and tourism industries to solve the problem of labor shortage, and promote digital transformation and upgrade 18 industrial zones. Yilan has diverse landforms and is a unique unmanned vehicle testing ground in Taiwan. In the future, it will also introduce a technology team to conduct commercial verification on the spot.

He said that the second step is "Shuangbei Industry Entering Yilan", planning to secure Academia Sinica's location in the High-Speed ​​Rail Zone, taking over the spillover effects of Nangang, connecting the R&D energy of Yilan University and Yilan Science Park, and converting it to project investment to integrate talents. The last step is the "New Economy of Healthy Life", which advocates combining medical and agricultural products to develop residential products suitable for active and mature people to live for a long time.

Legislator Chen Junyu said that the opposition parties jointly deleted the budget related to national defense independence and the support of the unmanned vehicle industry, which affected the employment opportunities for the expansion of unmanned vehicle production at the Yilan Shipyard. His opponent Wu Zongxian participated in the deletion of the budget and once said that "manufacturing drones may cause cancer" to create panic among the villagers and completely ignore the local economic development.

Xiao Ruimin, a professor at Yilan University, believes that Lin Guozhang's political views address the pain points of small and medium-sized enterprises. The establishment of a platform can lower the threshold for transformation, and the combination of scientific research resources can better retain young talents. Lu Wentong, chairman of the Shihe Drone Association, also spoke highly of it, emphasizing that Yilan needs a practice field and hopes that Lin Guozhang will provide test flight airspace after being elected to implement the blueprint.
