Penghu Jibei Crescent Bay Beach Cleanup Activities to Protect the Marine Environment

Jibei Crescent Bay, a tourist resort in the North Sea of Penghu, was exposed to a dirty environment that affected the beauty of the tourist attraction. Therefore, the Environmental Protection Bureau of the Penghu County Government joined hands with the Penghu National Scenic Area Management Office of the Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Transport and the Baisha Township Office of Penghu County to take a boat to Jibei Island and organize a beach cleanup activity at Jibei Crescent Bay Beach with local residents.

Jibei Island, located in Baisha Township, Penghu County, is the largest island in the North Sea. Jibei Island is famous for its rich beaches and rocky landscapes. However, due to the special geographical location of the Penghu Islands, the coastline is often polluted by a large amount of marine debris, and the northern coast is the most serious. Recently, the dirty environment of the Jibei Island Crescent Bay coastline has seriously affected the tourism image. Therefore, the Environmental Protection Bureau has joined forces with the central and local agencies and groups and residents to demonstrate their determination to protect the marine environment through practical actions and jointly maintain a high-quality marine environment.

The Environmental Protection Bureau stated that this activity brought together the Penghu National Scenic Area Management Office of the Ministry of Transportation and Tourism and the Baisha Township Office to work together to clean the beach. It is very grateful to the team of Song Wanfu, the mayor of Baisha Township, for their strong support in protecting the clean coastal environment of Crescent Bay Beach on Jibei Island. In the future, this beach will be protected by the Baisha Township Office. The earth is our common home. As a member of the ecosystem, protecting the earth is not the responsibility of others, but an obligation that everyone should bear.

Since the Environmental Protection Bureau hired workers to clean up the Crescent Bay, but the results were not effective, which caused criticism from the outside world, it will continue to work hard to supervise the cleanup by employees. We would like to thank the Penghu Management Office and Baisha Township Office for their response and participation, translating the beach cleanup spirit into plastic reduction actions in daily life, and jointly maintaining Penghu's sustainable blue sea and blue sky.
