The Financial Supervisory Service announced on the 5th, "We have significantly overhauled the system to improve cumbersome and difficult procedures so that policyholders can enjoy insurance premium discounts with just one answer."

As of the end of May, there were a total of 10.81 million contracts signed up for the accident-free conversion system, but only 17.6% (1.16 million cases) of the 6.57 million cases that have passed more than one year since signing the insurance contract are receiving premium discounts. The number of people eligible for discounts is expected to be much higher than this, but authorities point out that many are still not enjoying the benefits.

Previously, the contract holder had to contact a planner, etc. through guidance from the insurance company, apply for contract conversion, and select the conversion type (discount rate) himself.

From now on, once the contractor's intention to switch is confirmed, the company will automatically check the accident details, confirm the notice from the contractor, and then switch to the most favorable conditions.

Contractors will be able to apply directly non-face-to-face without having to visit a branch in person or ask a planner.

In addition, the number of notifications will be expanded to ensure that accident-free customers do not miss out on discount benefits, continuous guidance will be provided even after the contract acceptance date, and improvements will be made to periodically check for applications and conversions to provide additional guidance.

In addition to text messages, we have made improvements so that policyholders can quickly receive discounts on insurance premiums when accident-free discounts are available by utilizing multiple means such as phone and mail.

To avoid mistaking it for spam or advertising text, indicate that it is an insurance premium discount information in the title and first sentence of the notice, and include the type of contract before and after the contract and the insurance premium.

We plan to complete the maintenance of the computer system and insurance terms and conditions within January of next year.

The Financial Supervisory Service expected that “the system will be completely overhauled with a focus on policyholder convenience, improving policyholder benefits by utilizing existing insurance contracts to reduce insurance premiums, and revitalizing the accident-free conversion system.”
