Korea Press Foundation holds seminar on ‘Financial Investment Misconduct by Journalists’

The Korea Press Foundation announced on the 21st that it will hold a seminar on the 23rd at the Korea Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul on the topic of 'Current status of financial investment misconduct by journalists and tasks for improvement.'

At this event, financial authorities, academia, media, and civil society experts will examine major issues, such as conflicts of interest that may arise in the financial investment process of journalists, and discuss ethical standards and improvement tasks to increase the fairness and independence of reporting.

Jeong Jong-sik, head of the Financial Services Commission's Capital Market Research Division, will give a presentation on the topic of 'Things to keep in mind when investing in stocks for journalists from the perspective of unfair transactions', and Professor Kim Seong-hae of the Department of Media and Communication at Daegu University will give a presentation on the topic of 'financial investment and reporting ethics.'

This will be followed by a discussion between media, civil society, and legal officials on the topic of 'Efforts to prevent financial investment fraud, such as stock price manipulation by journalists, and to restore trust in the media.'
