Egypt signed a memorandum of understanding for defense cooperation with the Bosnian “BRITS” at the conclusion of the Sarajevo exhibition

The signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding took place in the presence of Dr. Eng. Salah Suleiman Jumblatt, Minister of State for Military Production, during the activities of the last day of the First Balkan Shield - Defense Industry Expo and Summit 2026, which was hosted by the Bosnian capital, Sarajevo, during the period from 1 to 4 of this September.

The signing ceremony was held in the pavilion of the Ministry of Military Production at the exhibition, in a step aimed at strengthening frameworks of joint cooperation in the field of defense industries and supporting opportunities for industrial integration between the two parties.

The Minister of State for Military Production explained that the memorandum of understanding aims to expand areas of cooperation with the Bosnian side, and to mutually benefit from the manufacturing capabilities and technical and technological expertise possessed by both parties.

Jumblatt stressed that the step comes within the Ministry of Military Production’s direction to expand the base of its international partnerships and open new paths for cooperation with similar companies in friendly countries, in a way that supports opportunities for establishing industrial and commercial partnerships during the next stage.

He pointed out that cooperation with Brits represents a step to enhance the Egyptian presence in the defense industry markets, pointing out that military production companies possess diverse manufacturing capabilities and accumulated experiences that qualify them to manufacture products according to quality requirements and international technical specifications.

For its part, Brits praised the manufacturing and technological capabilities of companies affiliated with the Ministry of Military Production, and expressed its aspiration to expand areas of cooperation and maximize the benefit from the expertise available on both sides.

The memorandum of understanding comes at a time when Cairo seeks to expand its network of partnerships in the field of defense industries, and to benefit from international cooperation in developing manufacturing capabilities and transferring expertise and technology.

According to the information announced so far, the memorandum of understanding does not specify a specific program for joint defense manufacturing or a specific military product, but it sets a framework for developing industrial and technical cooperation between the two parties, which may pave the way for more specific partnerships during the next stage.

The step gains additional importance for Egypt in light of its endeavor to diversify sources of defense technology and expand cooperation with foreign companies, in parallel with developing the local manufacturing base and enhancing export opportunities to new markets.
