Flávio Bolsonaro's defense calls for investigation into the banker's alleged approach to Lula

According to the criminal report presented by Flávio Bolsonaro's defense, messages extracted by the Federal Police from the banker's cell phone indicate attempts to bring him closer to the president and federal government authorities.

In the document, Flávio's defense requests that the facts be forwarded to the Attorney General of the Republic and that an investigation be opened to investigate conduct that, according to the piece, could constitute, in theory, the crimes of passive corruption and administrative advocacy.

According to a report in the newspaper O Globo, Vorcaro's lawyer, Walfrido Warde, stated that the banker presented President Lula with a whiskey, for which the PT member was grateful, and that, a month after a meeting at the Planalto Palace, the president sent "a hug". Planalto sent a note denying the allegations, declaring that it did not receive any gifts nor sent any message to the owner of Banco Master.

Lula and Vorcaro met on December 4, 2024, at Palácio do Planalto. The meeting was not on the official agenda and was mediated by former minister Guido Mantega. The meeting between Lula and Vorcaro was mentioned by Flávio Bolsonaro during an interview with Jornal Nacional, after the senator was asked about his meetings with the banker.

The candidate stated that his relationship with Vorcaro was private, denied having offered any favors and directed criticism at President Lula.

"What is not appropriate is a President of the Republic receiving, in a secret meeting, a banker, promising to help him solve his bank's problem. So, the question remains here: who owes explanations is Lula", he stated in the interview.

Regarding this meeting with Vorcaro, which took place at the end of 2024, Lula stated in February 2026 that he received the then banker at his request, in an appointment not recorded in the official agenda of the Palácio do Planalto. According to the president, former minister Guido Mantega was the one who took Vorcaro to see him.

"He then told me about the persecution he was suffering, that there were people interested in taking him down, I don't know how many...". said Lula. "What I told him: 'there will be no political position for or against Banco Master. What there will be will be a technical investigation, carried out by the Central Bank'. That was the conversation", he stated.
