Germany increases Ebola aid for Congo by eleven million euros

Berlin. Germany has increased its aid in the fight against the Ebola epidemic in the Democratic Republic of Congo by eleven million euros. Development Minister Reem Alabali Radovan (SPD) said this on Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB). "We have to remain able to act, especially in crisis situations. The main thing now is to look at: How can we achieve a lot despite having fewer resources?" The ministry confirmed the increase in response to a dpa request.

The situation in Congo is absolutely dramatic, said the minister. “We can now assume that this is the worst Ebola outbreak in the country’s history.” The situation is made more difficult by the fact that there are armed conflicts in the country. “It is incredibly difficult for the health workers there to even get to people.” Germany is supplying equipment, providing mobile laboratories and training health workers to educate people in the Congo about the disease.
