Two deadly shootings in South Africa leave 27 dead and 26 injured

South Africa is in shock this Sunday after two shootings over the weekend. The country deplores numerous deaths in these separate killings in Johannesburg and near Cape Town.

Many injured

Men armed with assault rifles killed 17 people on Saturday in a bar in western Johannesburg, also injuring 15, local police said on Sunday.

“It appears that they searched some customers, seizing their cell phones before fleeing in two unidentified cars,” added the police, who specified that the shooting took place in the evening around 9:30 p.m.

Shooting in the middle of the night

A little later. Ten people were killed and eleven injured in a shooting in a township near Cape Town, local police said.
