MHP Leader Devlet Bahçeli stated that the Nakhchivan Agreement, signed by Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan in Nakhchivan on October 3, 2009, was a turning point in terms of bringing multilateral cooperation to an institutional basis in the Turkish world.
Reminding that the foundations of the establishment of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking Countries, also known as the Turkic Council, were laid with the agreement, Bahçeli stated that the Nakhchivan Agreement is a manifestation of the will to develop the historical, cultural and human ties between the Turkic states within an institutional structure appropriate to the conditions of the age.
Reminding that this will gained an institutional nature with the summit held in Istanbul in 2010 and the Turkic Council started its activities, Bahçeli continued as follows:
"Over the course of time, the relations between the Turkish states have gained depth with a broad perspective of cooperation ranging from political and diplomatic contacts to economy, from transportation to energy, from education to culture, from security to science and technology. Thus, historical ties have not only been preserved as a memory of the past, but have been transformed into a basis that shapes the common possibilities of the future. At the 8th Summit held in Istanbul on November 12, 2021, the name of the Turkic Council was 'Turkish States' Organization, and the cooperation in the Turkish world was given a more comprehensive and institutional identity.
Today, the Organization of Turkic States continues its activities as an important international organization that addresses the common issues of the Turkish states within the understanding of consultation, solidarity and cooperation and contributes to the development of relations in political, economic, cultural and strategic fields. "The future of the Turkish world will be shaped by preserving historical memory, strengthening cultural ties and transforming our common heritage into concrete gains in the fields of science, technology, economy, education and diplomacy."
Stating that he believes that the will put forward by the Nakhchivan Agreement is one of the cornerstones of the institutional vision extending to the future of the Turkish world, Bahçeli said, "Carrying this will to further levels is important in terms of strengthening the solidarity between our states, protecting common interests and reaching a more effective position for the Turkish world on a regional and global scale." he said.
Bahçeli stated that, as the Nationalist Movement Party, they respectfully remember all those with ideals who fought to transform the ideal of "unity in language, thought and work" into an institutional understanding in the Turkish world and to bring their compatriots together around the same ideal and vision of the future, and said:
"We respectfully commemorate the precious memories of all our people of cause and ideas who devoted their lives to this sacred cause, carrying the ideal of Turkishness in their hearts, and devoted their lives to this path when necessary, and we accept it as a historical responsibility to transfer the intellectual and spiritual heritage they left to future generations. Today, we express our gratitude to all the men of heart who worked for the unity and solidarity of the Turkish world and contributed to the future of the Turkish nation. On the occasion of this meaningful date, we celebrate October 3, Turkic World Day, and Turkish states and We hope that the law of brotherhood, solidarity and cooperation between our compatriots will be further strengthened. May the unity, peace and future of the Turkish world last forever."
