Two men are arrested for robbing a Colombian tourist in Rio de Janeiro

Two men were arrested red-handed on Friday night (25), suspected of being involved in the robbery of a Colombian tourist in Rio de Janeiro. João Pedro da Silva Bastos was arrested for robbery and Guilherme dos Santos Ghion, for receiving. The arrest took place around 8pm, in the Rebouças Tunnel gallery, during an investigation by the Special Tourism Support Police Station (Deat).

According to the Civil Police, the tourist arranged a meeting with the suspects through a dating app on Thursday night (24). During the meeting, he consumed a caipirinha and then lost consciousness. An iPhone, US$1,200 and credit cards were stolen.

The victim only woke up the next day, at the Souza Aguiar Municipal Hospital, without remembering how he had arrived at the unit. According to the medical report, she had trauma to her right shoulder and arm, as well as signs of disorientation caused by an exogenous substance.

At the police station, the tourist recognized João Pedro as one of the perpetrators of the crime. Guilherme was not recognized by the victim, but, according to the police, he had a cell phone that had been stolen. That's why he was arrested for stealing.

In the first case, British tourists had several belongings stolen and bank transactions totaling 50 thousand euros were carried out. In the second, an American tourist had goods stolen and suffered transfers of US$17,800. In the third, a Canadian tourist had his cell phone stolen and recorded transactions worth R$2,900.
