72' Jordan Samrani in trouble after a head knock

S

By Simon Smale

Jordan Samrani has bounced backwards out of a tackle and has not moved.

It's the head of Kitione Kautoga smacking him on the chin that's done it - friendly fire from the massive Fijian.

He looks in a fair bit of bother here.

68' Penalty Eels! And Lawrie is in the bin!

S

By Simon Smale

DYLAN WALKER IS ABSOLUTELY FOLDED!

Blake Lawrie lays a shoulder in from a mile away, in combination with a solid tackle by Ryan Couchman.

What a run from Dylan Walker.

Walker absolutely raced off the back fence and the collision was like two mountains hitting each other.

Walker is laughing and carrying on like he's just had the best experience of his life.

Lawrie isn't laughing though as he is sent to the sin bin for the force of the shoulder charge!

If it had been high he'd have been sent off, let alone sin binned.

Walker is still laughing and, as Lawrie walks off the pitch to a rousing reception from the Dragons fans, Walker runs over and gives him a high five.

What a strange sport.

67' Try Dragons!

S

By Simon Smale

Connor Muhleisen is sent over under the posts!

Lovely darting run off a right foot step by Daniel Atkinson, he delivers the ball inside to the replacement hooker who scores.

Kyle Flanagan levels the scores at 22-22!

66' Penalty Dragons

S

By Simon Smale

That is there 11th penalty of the game!

The Eels have only had two!

Great field position incoming for the Dragons...

61' The Dragons knock the ball on over the line!

S

By Simon Smale

It's a great kick after a set in which the Dragons huffed and puffed but couldn't break through via conventional means.

Who got the touch on the ball from the contest?

Tyrell Sloan thinks that he's managed to dot this ball down.

Unfortunately for him, he knocked it on before that so the Eels will try and run the ball out from their own 10.

60' Penalty Dragons!

S

By Simon Smale

ANOTHER penalty! This one for a high tackle inside the 10.

Tallyn Da Silva is on report as a result of that shot.

More pressure from the Dragons on the Eels line.

59' Penalty Dragons!

S

By Simon Smale

Sean Russell massively overcooks the kick off - that ball has ended up in the stands almost!

The penalty for the Dragons will be on half way and they are cooking now, the hosts!

57' Try Dragons!

S

By Simon Smale

Game well and truly on!

The tap penalty was taken, two passes later and Blake Lawrie was bursting through a trio of Eels players to score!

Josh Addo-Carr thinks he's managed to get his hands under the ball there - and the Bunker is looking... It's not going to be taken off him though!

The kick from dead in front is good from Kyle Flanagan, who delivered that assist for the try with the final pass, and the Dragons are back within a converted try at 22-16.

57' Penalty Dragons!

S

By Simon Smale

The Eels are offside on their own try line as the Dragons press and put in a kick behind.

55' Penalty Dragons

S

By Simon Smale

The Eels have a long passage of possession, but then the Eels get caught offside in their eagerness to pin the Dragons in their own 10.

The Dragons launch the ball up field and out of danger and look to launch an attacking raid of their own.

Dragons still have time

Hello Simon, I was hoping the Magic Dragons turned up today to finish the season with a win. There's still plenty of time - C'mon Dragons!

50' The Eels score a lovely try!

S

By Simon Smale

That is sensational from the Eels!

Down the short side on the left, the Eels manage to develop a four-on-three.

Brian Kelly is the last man to deliver the pass to Jordan Samrani, who goes over and runs around to narrow the angle.

Great try.

Mitch Moses kicks the extras and that gives them a buffer, 22-10.

The Dragons say they want to receive this kick,

48' Hamish Stewart off for an HIA

S

By Simon Smale

Nasty-looking contact there, as Hamish Stewart lands face-first on the turf with his arms pinned in the tackle.

When he landed he looked like he was instantly groggy so it will be interesting to see if he returns.

Meanwhile Val Holmes won't return, he has an ankle injury and the boot is off, season over.

45' Val Holmes limps off

S

By Simon Smale

Not good news for the Dragons, with Val Holmes off with what appears to be an ankle injury.

45' Crossbar!

S

By Simon Smale

Lovely kick from Mitch Moses, who chips the ball up towards the in goal - and the ball hits the crossbar!

Toby Couchman caught it off the bar in the in-goal which means it's a 20-metre restart and not a goal line drop out, despite the Dragons prop being tackled as he caught it.

Essentially, it's a catch in the in goal on the full despite the crossbar connection.

41' We're back underway in the second half

S

Cotter getting his just deserts?

S

By Simon Smale

About time they court up with Cotter ,he is allwas pushing his luck in tackles , plus allwas the third man in over the top 😳 ,wen the tackle is completed

HT: Eels lead Dragons at the break

S

By Simon Smale

A hugely entertaining half of football, that.

The Eels started fast and scored in the opening minute before the two sides exchanged scores.

The Dragons felt they were going to go into the break ahead but a try to Dylan Egan was ruled out for a knock on by the Bunker.

And the Eels made the most of that reprieve to piggy back their way up field off the back of a penalty and score to head into the sheds in the ascendancy.

Entertaining game.

Open Questions

  • What is the final score of the match?
  • Did Jordan Samrani return after his head knock?
  • Will Val Holmes' ankle injury affect the Dragons' future games?
  • Was Blake Lawrie's sin binning upheld after review?
