Dyson is taking customer-service practices tested in South Korea into a broader global support model that extends beyond its existing three-day repair and loan promise to include connected-device diagnostics, artificial intelligence-assisted troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.

The British technology company outlined the expanded program at its Dyson Unveiled event in Berlin on Thursday. Dyson is bringing together services it had already begun rolling out earlier this year under its โ€œNever Without Your Dysonโ€ initiative, with a stronger focus on managing the full ownership cycle from setup and maintenance to repair and replacement support.

โ€œKorea is one of Dysonโ€™s most important markets, and customers here expect a very high level of service as well as product performance,โ€ Chief Customer Officer Tom Moody said. He added that lessons from Korea helped the company broaden its support model beyond postpurchase repairs and shape the global program.

One of the clearest examples is Dysonโ€™s free loan program, which the company says was piloted in Korea. Customers whose repairs cannot be completed within 72 hours can receive a replacement Dyson product until their own device is returned.

Dyson said it has provided about 43,000 loan units to Korean customers so far. It also said its service backlog has fallen by about 90 percent in recent years, while the average service turnaround time has dropped from more than 10 days to roughly 2 1/2 days.

โ€œWe wanted to make sure customers would not have to go without the product they use every day,โ€ Moody said, describing the Korean pilot as a model Dyson now plans to extend internationally.

The company is also moving toward more preventive support. Through connected products and the MyDyson app, Dyson plans to use device data for remote diagnostics and maintenance alerts, while AI-powered chat support will offer round-the-clock guidance on troubleshooting and product care.

For selected products, Dyson Concierge provides one-on-one video support with specialists for setup and initial use. Dyson is also preparing Dyson Total Restore, a maintenance service covering inspections, deep cleaning, airflow checks, battery testing and parts replacement where needed.

The service is due to be introduced in Korea in stages, though Dyson has not disclosed timing or pricing.

Moody said the goal is to support customers โ€œfrom the moment they open the boxโ€ and through ongoing use and maintenance.
