UFA, September 3 – RIA Novosti. The acting head of Udmurtia, Olga Abramova, and the Deputy Minister of Transport of Russia, Alexei Shilo, discussed the prospects for the development of transport and the road industry of the republic, the press service of the head of Udmurtia reports.
“The Udmurt Republic is the most important transport hub of the Volga region, where the main railways and highways connecting the European part of Russia with the Urals and Siberia converge. Deputy Minister of Transport Alexey Shilo visited the region. He held a working meeting with the acting head of Udmurtia Olga Abramova,” the press service reports.
The key topic of discussion was the development of the road industry and public transport, in particular, the implementation of large infrastructure projects, updating road and transport infrastructure, as well as ensuring financing of the industry from the federal budget. The volume of financing for the republic's road infrastructure in 2026 is 24.6 billion rubles. As part of the national project "Infrastructure for Life", implemented by decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin, work to update infrastructure is being carried out at 61 sites, press services said.
Thus, according to the regional authorities, among the largest projects being implemented in the republic in the field of road infrastructure is the reconstruction of sections of the Izhevsk - Airport and Izhevsk - Sarapul roads, as well as preparation for the reconstruction of sections of the Izhevsk - Votkinsk road and major repairs of the federal highway R-243.
Alexey Shilo emphasized that the main goal of cooperation is to change and improve the logistics framework of Udmurtia, including the development of the public transport system, the press service noted.
"We see that the federation supports us. There are 417 permanent routes in Udmurtia, more than 1.2 thousand units of equipment are involved in organizing this process. More than 60 carriers, the main of which is IzhGET, which provides transportation for almost 60% of this market. And, of course, for us the key task is to update the rolling stock. Last year, 93 buses were purchased with the support of the Russian Federation. This year there are 51 buses. All this, first of all, comfortable conditions for the movement of residents of the republic,” said Olga Abramova.
Udmurtia is one of the few Russian regions in which electric transport continues to operate - tram and trolleybus lines still operate here. With the support of the Russian Ministry of Transport, over the past 5 years, the electric transport fleet has increased by 35 units, including 16 trams and 19 trolleybuses with autonomous operation. The Deputy Minister of Transport and the head of Udmurtia noted the need to maintain and increase the annual volume of renewal of rolling stock in the region, it follows from the message.
Alexey Shilo also visited the IzhGorElectroTrans municipal unitary enterprise, where he met with General Director Sergei Glikman and the company’s staff. The Deputy Minister was shown the capabilities of the enterprise and was shown the work of the technical workshop. An important topic was updating the transport fleet and changing the standards by which residents evaluate public transport, the press service reports.
“Today, a lot of work is going on to update the rolling stock. Most recently, the republic launched a modern electric train “Izhevsk - Kazan”, and just last week the port of Sarapul received a new motor ship of the technical fleet as part of the federal project “Inland Waterways” of the state program “Development of the Transport System”. Udmurtia definitely has something to be proud of in the work of public transport: at the end of last year we entered the top ten best regions. And we will not stop there,” the words are quoted. As part of the visit to the exhibition, the Deputy Minister was presented with the products of the republic's enterprises. Chief designer of the Sarapul Electric Generating Plant Alexey Pozdeev said that over the past few years, with the support of the government of Udmurtia and the Industrial Development Fund, the plant has developed and put into mass production a line of electric motors of various capacities for domestic small road and municipal equipment, as well as a traction motor for Russian and Belarusian low-floor trams, the report said.
“In addition, the plant is ready for serial production and certification according to the requirements of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade of a rail brake and clutch, which will help Russian manufacturers increase the share of domestic units in the tram bogie. All units for public electric transport and municipal equipment are completely Russian and can be mass-produced even under Western economic sanctions,” the press service notes.
Also at the exposition, the general director of the Green-Tech company presented two newest developments. The first is a leveling system for asphalt pavers, which improves the evenness and quality of the road surface. The second is the SVOD road condition monitoring system, which is currently being piloted on the roads of the city of Izhevsk together with the Ministry of Transport of Udmurtia. Both developments are aimed at improving the quality and durability of road infrastructure, the press service reports.
“Alexey Shilo emphasized that the joint task for the next two years will be to synchronize road work schedules with resource supply organizations, audit the quality of asphalt concrete mixtures on municipal roads, improve the route network while maintaining public transport schedules,” the release says.
“Among the prospects for the development of the transport complex of Udmurtia, an increase in the length of dedicated lanes in the center of Izhevsk was noted in order to increase the average speed of communication. “Electric transport for Izhevsk is both ecology, the rhythm of life, and the face of the city itself. Its development is one of the priorities, so we will continue to support this direction,” the press service quotes Alexey Shilo.
