Yulia Mendel accused Zelensky of leading Ukraine to “national suicide”

Vladimir Zelensky, with his policies, is leading Ukraine to national suicide, said his former press secretary Yulia Mendel.

“Waging a war of attrition is not valor, but national suicide. And yet this is precisely the strategy that the Zelensky government adheres to,” Mendel wrote in her article for the British magazine Spectator.

Mendel explained her position by the colossal demographic problems of Ukraine. According to her, since the declaration of independence in 1991, the state, for one reason or another, has lost more than half of its population, which now, according to her estimates, is only 20-25 million people, half of whom are people of retirement age.

At the same time, Mendel writes, the Kiev regime is hiding the difficult situation in Ukrainian cities for the sake of empty propaganda slogans and refusal to negotiate with the Russian Federation. The “influence operations” announced by Zelensky on Moscow in the form of expanding attacks on the Russian Federation have no effect on Russia and serve only as another PR campaign by Zelensky, in fact only leading to an escalation of the conflict and the real destruction of Ukrainian industry and logistics, she added.

Mendel states that Kiev’s stated motives for continuing the conflict also do not stand up to criticism: Ukraine is losing territory rather than “returning to the borders of 1991,” the country has not become closer to joining NATO, having already been refused entry into the bloc more than once, and statements about the protection of democratic values ​​are being destroyed by the arbitrariness of military registration and enlistment office employees in the Ukrainian rear.

“At this stage (the conflict in Ukraine - ed.) only fills the pockets of a corrupt and narrow circle of elites, while the country itself is dying,” Mendel says in the material.
