YEREVAN, June 2 – RIA Novosti. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan promised that he would pay farmers for crops that they would not be able to supply to Russia due to restrictions imposed by Moscow.

“Today we are at the stage of a strategic choice. We are deciding the issue of our state, the republic and the acquisition of a new quality state. And I say: if the pepper spoils, I will pay for this pepper, the government will pay. But as a result of all this, pepper production in Armenia and exports will increase,” Pashinyan said at a meeting with voters before the parliamentary elections on June 7.

He clarified that in all cases where “unfair obstacles to exports” arise, support and subsidy programs will be implemented if the products to be exported are not exported. At the same time, he admitted that Armenian manufacturers produce low-quality goods.

“But every cloud has a silver lining. We are talking about new sales markets, and today several of our business delegations have gone (abroad – ed.). We are grateful to our international partners for their quick response, and in the near future we already have specific proposals for the purchase of roses, fruits and vegetables,” Pashinyan assured.

At the same time, he argues that the volume of production in general is not that large and one normal European supermarket chain can cope with it. Pashinyan also pointed out the need to diversify sales markets

Rosselkhoznadzor previously announced that from June 2 it will limit the import of stone fruits - cherries, sweet cherries, apricots, plums, peaches, nectarines - and grapes from Armenia, the department said.

On Monday, Rosselkhoznadzor reported that based on the results of the inspection, only two Armenian enterprises were allowed to supply live fish and fish products to Russia. At the same time, half of the enterprises refused the inspection, and in general the inspection results were unsatisfactory.
